Devkund Waterfall Trek

Devkund is home to one of the most photogenic waterfalls in the Sahyadris, a powerful double-tiered fall that plunges into a wide, deep natural pool near the village of Bhira in the Kundalika valley. The walk in is gentle by Sahyadri standards, winding through green paddy fields, a small stream crossing, and patches of forest before the roar of falling water announces the waterfall itself, framed dramatically by sheer rock walls on either side. The pool beneath the falls is a highlight in itself, deep and cold, drawing many trekkers in for a swim or simply to sit at its edge and take in the spray. Because the approach is short and largely flat with only a brief rocky stretch near the end, Devkund has become one of the most popular easy monsoon treks close to Mumbai, ideal for those who want the reward of a spectacular waterfall without a demanding climb.

Highlights

  • A striking double-tiered waterfall plunging into a deep natural pool
  • A gentle walking trail through lush green paddy fields and forest patches
  • A refreshing swim opportunity in the pool below the falls (subject to safety conditions)
  • Dramatic sheer rock walls framing the waterfall on both sides
  • One of the most scenic and accessible monsoon waterfalls near Mumbai

Who is this for?

Ideal for beginners, families, and groups wanting an easy monsoon outing centred around a waterfall, including reasonably fit children above 10 years, though caution is needed for those who cannot swim near the pool.
